I’m With Brigid
It’s a distinct honor and privilege to add my name to the long and diverse list of community activists and leaders supporting Brigid for Travis County Commissioner Precinct 2.
I’ve known Brigid now for 20 years--in my capacity as a Council Aide to former Council Member Gus Garcia in the early 1990s, as a fellow parishioner of Our Lady of Guadalupe Church, and as a trusted and loyal friend.
Brigid has been actively involved in the Austin community for many years, and while most know Brigid for her tenacity and proven leadership in the environmental community, I can personally attest to her activism and participation in, and appreciation for Latino cultural values, as well as her support of Latino quality of life issues over the past 20 years.
Brigid has been a strong supporter of creating meaningful opportunities for local, small, minority and women-owned businesses and she recognizes the significant contributions of small businesses to our local economy.
She has actively supported East Austin Latino neighborhoods in defeating past environmental racism and land-use practices which discriminated against our community and negatively impacted our quality of life.
Brigid took a huge political risk, placing her personal aspirations aside, by providing an early endorsement of the 10-1 Austinites for Geographic Representation single-member districts plan to ensure minorities would have increased opportunities for representation on the Austin City Council.
I know Brigid’s passion and leadership firsthand. She is a reformer dedicated to addressing our ongoing challenges and will work diligently to protect our community values. Long gone are the days of elected officials who place the needs of the people first. That’s why I can unequivocally state that Brigid is the best candidate, voice, and leader to be our next County Commissioner of Precinct 2.
Adelante con Brigid!
