Urgent: County Vote THIS Tuesday 6/10 on Tax Protest

Thanks to all who came on such short notice June 2nd to urge Travis County Commissioners to protest unusually low commercial property tax appraisals, which are shifting an unfair burden onto homeowners. Travis County Commissioners are considering whether to challenge the 2014 commercial property appraisals.

Your signs sent a loud message that we homeowners are paying our fair share while large commercial property owners are manipulating the property tax system. While we pay our part, these large commercial property owners pay an average of 60% of the actual values of their buildings.

The County postponed this agenda item to answer some legal questions. Judge Biscoe said they would take it up on or before June 17 and hear testimony from residents.

He has scheduled the item for THIS Tuesday, June 10th at 10:15 am.  The meeting is at 700 Lavaca in the first floor meeting room. Please carpool if possible as there is limited parking.

As homeowners and Austinites, we need to unite to have the County Commissioners hear our concerns. These large commercial property owners need to pay their part on the actual value of their buildings.

Please come if you can and help spread the word to Facebook, neighborhood ListServes, etc.

It really makes a difference when people show up!
